On Wednesday VMware sent out an email to all customers regarding the end of availability for VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB). The beginnng of the email reads:

Rich Brambley said he would “go out on a limb and say that most of the VMware community will help VCB pack it’s bags as quick as possible”, also discussing whether VMware’s vDR will take the spotlight as VCB’s replacement?
Rich also noted that if vDR is destined to replace VCB then VMware is going to have to expand the scalability of vDR’s current combination of virtual appliance and vSphere Client plugin.
