VMware seems set to capitalize on the smart-phone market by making available virtualized services to mobile device makers. Announced as the VMware Mobile Virtualization Platform (MVP) it is rumored to be available for most phones by 2011.

So how will the Mobile Virtualization Platform work?
* User data will be able to be moved from device to device without having to move the virtual phone itself. In theory, this would allow someone to own a Blackberry and an Apple iPhone at the same time and keep the devices in synch.
* Complex settings across multiple devices will be made easier through a common interface. The underlying VMware hypervisor (VMware software which runs the virtual phone within), will handle the technical difficulties by converting the inner settings of the virtual machine.
2010/2011 is not too far away now so keep your eyes peeled for more on this.
