Last week Tom Howarth posted a converstion on his blog between himself and Alex Mittell regarding a very concerning issue with VMware’s CBT.
Since then there has been much debate on the issue. Shortly after Tom’s original post Alex posted a response on the VMTN detailing the problem and confirming that PHD immediately implemented a resolution to the issue.
It was suggested by Veeam’s Anton Gostev that the issue was “made up just to make some noise“, however once John Troyer from VMware recognised the issue it became apparent to them that this was not the case.
Since VMware recognised the issue Rich Brambley confirmed that Veeam “handles the issue without corruption in all but one specific scenario“.
I’ll be following this issue as it progresses so keep your eyes open for more on this. For the meanwhile it looks like most of the backup vendors out there as on top of the issue.
