Duncan Epping always comes up with great blog posts, and on Monday he started by asking the question “what’s the max amount of VMs per Host is for vSphere?”.

Good question we thought as the answer most people would come up with would be 320 VMs, although in reality the answer is a little more complex because it depends on a numerous factors.
It seems that the “virtual machines per host” number that the Configurations Maximum page for vSphere needs to be explained better.
Being the good sport that Duncan is he happily explained the answer in full!
