I’m still on a high from VMworld! It was great to see all of the community members in the flesh again and great to check out all of the new technology and software releases!

What was especially great to see was PHD Virtual Backup 5.3’s latest features in action and the new PHD Monitoring suite being showcased!
It was also great to see all of the attendees packing out our booth! This video shows a giveaway we did to the attendees on the Wednesday at the show!

The buzzing in the background is The Killers doing their bass and drum check in area next door!

So VMworld USA is now completely over, and most of the vendors are turning their heads towards VMworld Copenhagen and other expo opportunities.

With this in mind I thought it a good idea to do a post on the bloggers who attend VMworld each year!
Without the same bunch of VMware evangelists who raise their heads at this event each year, and the new faces who join in like they have been attendees their whole lives this would be “just another conference”.

Luckily for us this is not the case!

The VMware community is made up of 1000s of bloggers and digital community members who are unique in how they interact with each other both online and offline. I work with a number of communities (in the technology sector and elsewhere) and I have say *hand on heart* that the VMware community is the friendliest and most welcoming one that I have experienced!

Thanks again to the guys and girls of the VMware community for making VMworld a true home away from home!

Last week at VMworld Las Vegas 2011 I cornered several prominent community members and picked their brains on their main VMworld 2011 experiences.

In this interview Greg Stuart ( @vDestination / vDestination.com ) who is the man behind the vExpert corner in the community/blogger lounge tells me what his VMworld has been like.

Crystal Lowe (Wife of vSpecialist and Virtualization Author Scott Lowe) has created a growing movement over the last few years called Spousetivities that focuses on expo activities for the wives of attendees.

I caught up with Crystal at VMworld to find out what Spousetivities is all about!

For the last few years at VMworld Stephen Herrod, CTO of VMware Inc. has thrown a party at VMworld for VMware clients, bloggers and vExperts.

I was lucky enough to be able to attend for a second year and I must say that things just get better every year at VMworld!

Other attendees included Steve Beaver, Kendrick Coleman, David Davis, Rob Marković and many more familiar names!

There was also a special attendance by the Monster VM!!!

Parties like these serve as a great way for community members to network and discuss new ideas. Having the CTO of VMware actively pushing them will make future VMworlds even better.

I bumped into blogger David Owen ( @vMackem / vMackem.co.uk) a few minutes before a session and took the opportunity to interview him about what has stood out for him at VMworld 2011 so far.

Today at VMworld I interviewed Brian Nason, Director of Product Marketing for PHD Virtual on what they have going on at their booth.

Anyone who follows the VMware communities will know that Christopher Kusek (@CXI) is famous for the parties he throws at the various expos across the year.
Most recently he had a “CXI” party at EMC world which was one of the most talked about expo parties of the year!

In true VMworld style Christopher threw a “CXI” party at the Cosmopolitan last night sporting over 1000 registered attendees of which PHD Virtual was one of the sponsors!

The evening was great fun with awesome views from the balconies of the hosted suite.

People we bumped into included @Nerdblurt, @SBeaver, TOudin, @Sysxperts and @Corloff (who was showing of a retro pair of leg warmers)!
